A local BHPH lot has a 1991 Pathfinder in seriously clean shape. Their website sucks and its the only thing on the lot without a price in the window.
I’m afraid to ask. Everything else is “Guaranteed 100% Financing” and 2x market value. Normally I’d forget about it. This isn’t a normal Pathy.
This one lets you select from 5 different gears! It has Manuel!
Why would I be conflicted? Other than the BHPH lot?
Well.. I had this Xterra once, lifted on 35s. With a Manuel. Once. And if I was smart enough to keep full coverage on it..
I don’t want another SUV but that X was so good to me.
Sonofa!

My Xterra is the best accident that ever happened to me.
But growing up, my dad had an ‘87 Pathfinder, SE-V6 2 door, 5 Spd stick. He still swears it was the best vehicle he’s ever owned. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, even those weird-ass triangular 15" alloys. I feel like my Xterra is the spiritual successor to the Pathy. What I’m saying is, if it’s a good price, go for it. Hell, no matter the price, if it’s not rotted, go for it!

The X was absolutely the successor to the 1g Pathy. Plus it had a first aid kit!
I’m waiting it out. If it’s still there Friday I’m inquiring. When I get emotional about things I make dumb decisions.

My gf’s boss has an 88 2 door V6 Manuel Pathy in blue. It was his first car, he bought it 15 years ago with 150k miles for $400. He still daily drives it and its currently at 350k miles (and counting). His is really clean too, so is the blue velour interior. I’ll have to see if he’ll let me take a pic of it and post it here

Blue with Blue “Mouse fur” interior? 2 door? You have to get a pic!
This one is the default Black and Grey. The maintenance history, timing belt and price are the only worries right now.
Mostly price.
Totally price..

Don’t get your hopes up man. If everything else is twice market value .... well, you know. Plus, some of those places will not sell you a vehicle for cash, you have to use their aweful financing. I tried to buy a Camaro with cash from JD Byryder once, and they told me to go pound sand.
Hopefully I’m wrong though!

I’m taking pics on Friday. I’m afraid that they want $5000 for it and have to wait. Half that and it’s mine. It’s so dang clean.
I’ve dealt with JDB in the past. Anyone that can “guarantee” financing sucks. Those places typically run like hell from manual transmissions though.

I can’t see a local independent bhph turning cash down. I’d bet JDB and other phph chains demand a certain amount of financing revenue from the franchises.

Those old Nissan Hardbodies/Pathfinders are dead reliable - there’s an old man who comes in to work all the time that has a ‘91 or so (though with an auto) that is in MINT shape.

This will really get you spun up... I posted last week about helping my friend look for a Jeep. He was really set on and XJ for a while but the selection around here sucks, so he started branching out to other SUVs. Over the weekend he picked up a 99 Pathy with manuel, 190k miles, but super clean looking, for only $4500.

I agree they’ll probably take cash, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they want way too much for it.

When I took my GF into work today he let me take some pics: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/for-those-who-are-interested-1787507635
PS- he told me to tell you that you made his day asking to see it

I didn’t know the refreshed Pathy came with a Manual. They started “refining” it by that point. It’s a very good alternative to an XJ.

Yeah, I didn’t either. I’m not a huge SUV guy, so I don’t stay up on a lot of the model changes, so that was kind of cool to discover. I’m going to hang out with him tomorrow and hopefully I’ll get to take it for a little spin.
